Joseph Tan, well known family counselor, commented: “If only a couple can say to each other – I can do what you cannot do; you can do what I cannot do. And we can do together as a team what we cannot do as individuals – then theirs will be the golden family.”
When God created Adam He knew that Adam cannot do certain things. He knew that Adam needed a ‘helper’. And so God created Eve, not to be a slave to Adam, but to be a sweet companion – helper! Unfortunately, these days, even in Christian families we see rifts between husbands and wives because of their ego problems. Each one thinks that he/she is superior in all aspects.
Biblical model of a good family is companionship, and not comparison. No one should treat the other cheap but honor them, by honoring the relationship that God Himself has created between them.

Friends, learn to love and honor your spouse. Acknowledge your spouse as a helpmate who can always compliment you in achieving greater things in life. May the Lord give us grace to love and honor our spouses and build a family with Him as the foundation!
