WATERMARK !

I came to know about a man of God sometimes back when he came to attend the Sunday service at our church.

While sharing our spiritual experiences, he told me an interesting thing about his Bible. It was a student edition Bible published by Word publishers.

He showed me a page in the Bible and told me that when he opened the newly bought Bible to read for the first time a month ago, he got a rude shock to see that the numbering of the chapters is not given there like any other Bible. He felt very annoyed about himself for not noticing the same while buying it.

Every time he has to read the Bible, he had to put up a hard struggle in locating the chapters. And finally as he could not stand it any longer, he decided to mark the chapters himself. He decided to start it with John. He got a few chapters numbered after referring other Bible.

And one day as he was flipping through the pages he had numbered to check its accuracy, his eyes fell upon the WATERMARK…….the numbers of the chapters inscribed in big green letters (Refer photograph). Though he was glad, he felt ashamed for being blinded to the fact for almost a month even though he had been reading it day & night regularly.

On hearing this, I was reminded of the fact that if we could miss out what is visibly written in a Bible, how easy it could be for us to miss out the teaching / wisdom in each of the word the Bible does contain, if we don’t care to read it carefully with our spiritual eyes open.

Dear friend, how devoted are you in reading the Bible? Do you have a plan to read the Bible daily?

In our busy and chaotic world, we hardly get time to read the bible but we never miss out reading the Newspaper, watching our favourite TV serials or sport and hang on to the PC for hours. And sometimes we may be reading the bible out of some compulsion but just by flipping through the pages without really making any efforts to have an understanding of it. We are only grieving the Lord Almighty by this indifferent attitude of ours.

The Bible is the BREAD OF LIFE. It’s the only place to find your spiritual nourishment and strength for each day. So, how vital is it for you to set a time and place for meditating upon His words?

God wants to speak with you and hear from you. You won’t regret the time you spend with Him, pondering His words and talking with Him.

Well, it is important to remember here that reading a daily devotional or any other spiritual book is good but can never replace the Bible as a writer’s thoughts are no substitute for the POWERFUL WORD OF GOD.

As I open my Bible, I’m always excited about what His word is going to teach me which really helped me develop a passion for His words & draw me closer to Him.

Dear friend, Do you have a passion for His words?
